Safer Sex Night: Sober and Clothed

When I attended my first Safer Sex Night last year, I went, I danced, I left after ten minutes, and I decided I would not go again. So this year, when I found out that Safer Sex Night fell on a Thursday, my usual shift, I was a little bummed out that I would again have to be surrounded by sweaty naked people and (literally) steaming walls. However, that feeling was short lived, because I soon realized that this Safer Sex Night would be a bit different than it was for me last year—after all, what better night for some solid and entertaining people watching? Since I began working at the Sco last semester, I have rediscovered my love of people watching—especially drunk, horny, dancing college kids people watching. That may sound a little weird, but hey, you try it and get back to me and then we’ll see how weird it is… But I digress. Yes, I worked Safer Sex Night this year, and let me tell you, it’s pretty different being on the other side of the bar at this classic Oberlin event. Overall, I was surprised at how much fun I had being there as more of a watcher than a doer. Continue reading

Obehave: The Spy Show that Loved Me

The Cat was packed as we walked in. We took our seats, front and center, and listened to the James Bond Theme Song as we waited for the show to begin. They never start on time—something you come to learn as an Obehave groupie. Finally, at 9:10pm, the house lights went down and the stage lights went up, and our favorite Obehavors snuck onto the stage like the secret spies they really are. Continue reading
