At 6:54 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, I texted my girlfriend at home, “This is going to be the weirdest night of my life.” At 11:53 a.m. on November 13, 2009, I texted, “It wasn’t that weird.”

I don’t usually take forever to get ready, but the week before Safer Sex Night, I fulfilled every sort of girlie stereotype. Everything was carefully planned out–the outfit, the shoes, the make up. By the time the dance rolled around, I was more than ready for my nearly naked debut to the Oberlin student body.

Fearless and Loathing received the first student tour of the new Phyllis Litoff building. The building will feature practice rooms, teaching studios, a rooftop garden, a café and a state-of-the-art recording studio.

ResEd is enacting a new standing policy insuring that 10% of Oberlin’s students will live off campus, starting with the 2010-2011 school year. Assuming enrollment stays at a steady 2,850 students, 285 students will live off campus next year.

Sometimes I lose sight of how fun concerts can be, because most of my life is spent listening to and practicing music. When a concert like Thursday night’s Oberlin Wind Ensemble comes around, I am both surprised at how much fun I am having, and relieved that after my hard labor at the piano, I still adore music and all it has to offer.

Students learned how to safely, and consensually, please a variety of genitalia this past Saturday during three sexual pleasure workshops held by SIC. The sessions were led by SIC staffers Sarah Burnette ’11, Laura Atack ’10, and Lisa Yanofsky ’12 as part of this year’s Safer Sex Week.

The smells of cumin and curry powder filled First Church on Halloween as local vendors showed off at Oberlin annual Food Fest. A delicious variety of food was put on tasty pedestals to display the different flavors and colors of Ohio.
