Parking: Prices and Relocations

Lot Assignments

New Parking Plan

Parking is now assigned by seniority and permits have increased $50 to $150/year.  The increase in parking permits is due to the College’s initative to go green.  The two major construction projects, N. Professor St. and the Litoff Building, have caused the College redistribute cars to less central lots.  Students must register their cars before September 4th.

Requiring students to use distant lots will ease the scarcity of parking.  “In order to better utilize some of our more remote lots, we assigned the students who haven’t been here as long, which would be first and second year students, to the remote lots on campus,” said Marjorie Burton, Director of Safety and Security.

Parking permit prices have gone up again.  “The college has invested heavily in sustainability in every direction, and they want to discourage parking on campus and thought a [price] hike might make the difference in having students consider, ‘Do we really need to bring a car here?’” said Marjorie Burton, the Director of Safety and Security.  “The hike this year wasn’t a huge jump, because Linda Gates is really sensitive to the fact that this in fact does impact students.”

Residence halls with specific parking lots will determine the use of spaces by hall councils.  You can also park in Faculty or staff lots from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. every day and all day on weekends.

The parking lots are assigned as follows:

First-Year Students:
Hollywood Lot, past the Allen Medical Center on the corner of West Lorain and Hollywood St., in the West two rows
Professional Services Building Lot, also past Allen (247 W. Lorain)
Second-Year Students:
Union Street Lot (the rows at the Eastern end)
Field House Lot at the Northern most double rows
Third, fourth and fifth year students:
Woodland St. Lot (Northern section and center and west rows as marked)
Grey Gables Lot (Eastern half)
Grey Gables Extension (as marked)
Philips Lot (center back to back rows)

Students assigned to Union St., Firelands Apartments, 137 Elm, and Tank:
Union Street Lot
Firelands Lot
Willard Court Lot (southern two rows only for Tank/Firelands)
137 Elm (four spaces, then overflow to Grey Gables and Woodlands)

  1. dsfdsa,

That would be a great article except I wouldn’t want to give away all the secret hiding places. Gotta keep the free parking free.
